The spiral form represents the Koru, a powerful symbol in Aotearoa New Zealand of new life, growth, strength, and peace. Just like the unfurling silver fern frond it echoes, this work suggests movement, light, and transformation, qualities found not only in nature but also in ourselves.
Depending on the light and angle, the texture shifts and the shadows dance, a quiet reminder that there is elegance in imperfection, and strength in softness. This piece is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world through mindful reuse and intentional creation.
This sculptural work is a new direction in my creative journey, exploring form and new beginnings using humble, discarded materials, it invites viewers to see beauty in the overlooked and to reflect on cycles of renewal.
